No job for a woman?

Time was that the Western Mail exerted influence among Wales’ movers and shakers – or thought it did anyway. The fact that Martin Shipton’s piece on Cheryl Gillan’s replacement appears in the Saturday edition sort of intimates that they have pretty much given up hope in that respect.

Having said that, none of those interviewed seemed to have much of an idea either; let alone any actual real pull in the matter.

Maybe I'm missing something but I thought the idea was that the referendum a while back was meant to give the Assembly a greater legislative role and would greatly diminish the status, if not the need, for the Secretary of State.

I suppose this is why some people think the job should go to a Lib Dem.
